What should patients expect (risks & recovery)?

Robotic liver surgery carries the risks common to any major liver operation, including bleeding and, rarely, insufficient remaining liver function after resection. Not every tumor is suitable for a robotic approach; the size, number, and location relative to major vessels all influence this decision, and very large or complex tumors may still need open surgery. A detailed pre-operative evaluation using CT or MRI imaging, along with liver function blood tests and, where relevant, calculations of remaining liver volume, guides the surgical plan.
